'New Study' shows people love expensive, authentic stuff
Perhaps you fancy yourself someone who doesn’t care if you’re wearing a real label, because style is style, not a bunch of brand names, right? Maybe you’re the type to, say, rock a most-likely-fake Dior T-shirt pillaged from Salvation Army, because you don’t need the real thing, so long as you look good. Aside from costing the designer money, would it matter to you if you were carrying a fake Alex Wang Rocco Bag? Science says YES, yes, it would!

"A new study claims that our need for brand authenticity is a deep-seated human instinct … we crave authenticity as an end unto itself. We want the real iPhone not because it works better but because it’s the real one. The same logic explains why we splurge on Hermes bags, Rolex watches, Prada T-shirts, fancy Bordeaux, and expensive art."

The author continues:

"It’s easy to ridicule this behavior as mere snobbery. We might look down on the pretentious fools carrying Louis Vuitton luggage, or bragging about their Vertu phone, or wearing underwear with a big logo. We probably assume that they’ve just wasted a lot of money on some costly social signaling, or that they’re using the brands to assuage their deep insecurity. Unfortunately, we’re all vulnerable to the same tendency."

Looking for stylish, affordable iPad case for type-A male?

Type A? Tough guy to shop for, we’d imagine. But a good case for his beloved iPad is both practical and stylish. There are some really good looking options out there in a range of prices, depending on his style. Two simple ones on our radar—Clare Vivier’s sleeve made exclusively for Steven Alan ($115), which he can easily slip the iPad into or for something more secure (not to mention affordable), Dodo offers a simple Moleskine-style folio case that securely holds the tablet in place and will only set you back about fifty bucks. Griffin sells an office-appropriate leather wallet case ($50) that not only keeps the iPad safe and secure but also has slots for papers and credit cards. There’s also a really handsome envelope style portfolio by Fossil (believe it or not) that he can easily tuck the iPad into, along with any work papers or anything else he might be carrying. The vintage-style leather folio is only $40, but it might be a tad casual for your Type A fella.

Kate Snags Cover, Models Swimwear For French Vogue

The model may be pushing forty years old, but we don’t care. And apparently neither does anyone else. Thankfully, magazine editors still believe in her elegance and grace. We would want to see no one else on Vogue Paris’ June/July 2010 cover

.
Does anyone else think this editorial bears a striking resemblance to her last shoot with Sorrenti for Vogue Hommes? Except in this one she actually wears the bathing suits.

2010 Range Rover Q-VR stretch proposal by Design Q

Middle-East-based tuner Design Q has revealed an opulent concept based on the Range Rover. Called the Q-VR, this stretched luxury SUV has been designed to feel like a private jet for the road, according to its creators. The reason? To show the world that despite the recession and Dubai’s financial woes, the Middle East “remains the hub of the economic world.”

Features named as part of the concept include a cigar humidor, a drinks chiller and a mini-spa centre. No powertrain figures were released but it is a fact that the most powerful standard Range Rover has a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 worth 375 kW (503 bhp / 510 PS) and 625 Nm of torque.

The Q-VR will be exhibited at the 10th biennial Dubai International Motor Show this week.

Abu Dhabi Gets an ATM Machine that Dispenses Pure Gold
Many decades ago, an ATM machine was considered sort of a novelty. However there isn’t a bank  now that does not offer ATM facilities to its clients. How would you like it if you could withdraw gold coins or bars of gold instead of currency notes? Usually gold is the most stable metal and its price usually augments but never falls down.
The said ATM which dispenses pure gold is called Gold to go and has been developed by a German. It is installed at the Kempinski Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi. One of these machines was also found in Frankfurt Airport a year ago. So if you are planning to purchase bullion, you might as well go to Abu Dhabi and use the ATM to get gold.

Now, it is more like a vending machine than an ATM I suppose, for your bank account may not be linked to it anyway. Thus, to say that it is an ATM machine would be farfetched. When you visit Abu Dhabi, you could go ahead and buy a couple of golden coins from this machine as a souvenir to loved ones at home . This sure is going to be a crowd puller in the arid Arab city.
